One of my favorite films of all time, Oldboy, directed by Chan-wool Park, has some of the most elegantly simple, yet interesting frames I’ve ever laid eyeballs on–out of the hundreds of films I’ve watched though, it’s amazing I can even remember some of them.
This pair in particular caught my attention for its usage of book ending images. It starts and ends with the same composition. Whatever that means is anyone’s interpretation, but visually it gives off a feeling of complete-ness.
Have you seen Oldboy? How would you interpret these images in context with the story? Leave your thoughts below.
